To upgrade your game server plan, open your server, go to Settings → General, find the Your plan card and press Upgrade plan. Choose a bigger plan, pay only the difference for the rest of your billing period and the extra memory and CPU apply as soon as the payment is confirmed, without restarting the server. Only the owner of the service can upgrade it.

When it is time to upgrade

Upgrade if you see any of these signs:

  • Your server is lagging or has low TPS and the Memory (RAM) card says Needs more. See fix Minecraft lag and TPS.
  • The Your plan card warns "Your server is using 85% of its memory" or more. When memory fills up, the server slows down or closes on its own.
  • The server crashes with out-of-memory errors. See Minecraft server won't start.
  • You added mods, plugins or players and need more disk, backups, databases or ports.

Upgrade your plan

  1. Sign in at dashboard.solumecore.com, open Game servers and select your server.
  2. Open the Settings tab and the General section.
  3. In the Your plan card, press Upgrade plan. The button only appears when the service is active, you are the owner and there are plans to move up to.
  4. In Upgrade your plan, review your Current plan and the options. Each card shows the memory (with how much extra you gain), vCPU, disk, backups, databases and ports. The one marked Recommended gives at least double your current memory, because a small jump rarely solves the problem for long.
  5. Select a plan. Plans that do not fit on your server's machine show Not available on this server's machine right now.
  6. Read the note at the top: Today you only pay the difference until your next renewal, and after that the new price applies.
  7. Press Pay … and upgrade. You go straight to the invoice's payment page. Pay with any of the methods available there.

Once the payment is confirmed, the new memory and CPU apply to your server, without restarting it. The other limits of the new plan (disk, backups, databases and ports) are the ones shown on its card.

If you have not paid yet

The upgrade stays pending until you pay. The Your plan card shows Upgrade to … waiting for payment with the deadline and two buttons, Pay … and Cancel upgrade. By default the invoice expires after 48 hours and the reserved space is released, so pay before the date shown or create the upgrade again later. You can also find the invoice in Invoices.

What you can and cannot do

  • Upgrades only. You can move to a bigger plan, not a smaller one.
  • Same game and location. The new plan must be for the same game or language and the same location as your current one.
  • One upgrade at a time. If you already have a pending upgrade, pay or cancel it first.
  • Sub-servers. A sub-server uses its main server's plan, so the upgrade is requested from the main server.
  • While a cancellation is requested. The upgrade button is hidden if you have requested to cancel the service.

Troubleshooting

  • I do not see "Upgrade plan". You may not be the owner, the service may not be active, you may have a pending upgrade or a cancellation requested, or you are on the biggest plan.
  • "You're on the biggest plan". If you need more, press Talk to support and tell us what you need, and we will put together something custom.
  • My server's machine has no room. If the plan you want shows Not available on this server's machine right now, open a ticket from the panel so we can move it to one with space.
  • The upgrade was not applied after paying. Check the invoice shows as paid and refresh the page. If it still shows the old plan, open a ticket with the invoice number.
  • Upgrades are turned off. Occasionally upgrades are disabled temporarily. Try again later or write to support.

FAQ

How do I upgrade my Minecraft server to more RAM?

Go to Settings → General → Your plan → Upgrade plan, pick a plan with more memory and pay the difference. The extra RAM applies after the payment is confirmed.

Do I have to restart the server after upgrading?

No. The panel says the new memory and CPU apply right after the payment without a restart.

How much will I pay today?

Only the difference for the rest of your current billing period. The amount is calculated by the system and shown on the button before you pay, and the new price applies from your next renewal.

Can I downgrade my plan?

Not from the panel: only upgrades are available. If you need a smaller plan, open a ticket and tell us what you need.

Will I lose my world or files when upgrading?

No. An upgrade changes the resources of the server, not its files.

Not sure which size you need? Compare every option on our plans page.
