How to Connect the SolumeCore Discord Bot to Your Server
Add the bot to your Discord, link it with /link and let your community check status, wake the server and manage the whitelist, with limits per role.
The SolumeCore Discord bot lets your community check on your game or app server and, if you allow it, start it or manage the Minecraft whitelist, straight from your Discord server. To connect it, open Discord bot in your dashboard, add the bot to your Discord, run /link there, and choose which servers it can see and what each role can do.
The bot is in beta. If the Discord bot page tells you the bot is not available yet, it has not been opened for use and the Add the bot to my Discord button will not appear. This guide applies once it is there.
What you need
- A SolumeCore account with at least one game server or app.
- A Discord server where you have the Manage Server permission. Only people with that permission can link and unlink the bot.
Connect the bot step by step
1. Add the bot to your Discord
- In the dashboard menu, under Account, open Discord bot.
- Click Add the bot to my Discord.
- In Discord, choose your server and approve. The bot asks only for what it needs: see channels, send messages, embed links, read message history and pin messages. It does not ask to administer your server, roles or members.
2. Run /link in your Discord
- In any channel of your Discord, type
/linkand press Enter. You need Manage Server for this. - The bot replies with a private link to your dashboard. It expires after 30 minutes and works only once.
3. Choose servers and roles
- Open the link and sign in to SolumeCore if you are asked to.
- In the Servers step, select the servers this Discord can see. The others do not exist for the bot. You can expose up to 25 servers per Discord.
- In the Roles step, set what each Discord role can do (details below). You can also switch on console commands here, which are off by default.
- In the Confirm step, review the summary and click Link Discord.
- Go back to Discord. The bot confirms the link in a few seconds.
If a card says Waiting for the bot, the bot has not picked up its key yet. If that does not change after a few minutes, run /link again.
Permissions per role
Each Discord role gets only the permissions you give it. Everyone in the Discord is a role too, called Everybody in the Discord, and starts with View only.
| Permission | What it allows | Includes |
|---|---|---|
| View | Status, players, address and the whitelist | none |
| Wake | Start the server only if it is off or sleeping. Nobody can stop it with this | View |
| Power | Start, stop and restart | View and Wake |
| Whitelist | Add and remove players | View |
| Console | Send console commands (if you enabled them for this Discord) | View |
Being an administrator of your Discord gives no extra permissions in the bot. Only the roles you choose count.
A console command can do anything a server operator can do, such as op, ban or stop. Give Console only to roles you fully trust, and keep console commands off if you do not need them. SolumeCore can also turn them off globally, and in that case the option shows as disabled.
What the bot can do
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/server status |
Live status with players, CPU, RAM and the address. It refreshes itself for two minutes |
/server players |
Who is online right now (Minecraft) |
/server address |
The address to join, ready to copy |
/server wake |
Starts the server only if it is off or sleeping |
/server start, /server stop, /server restart |
Power controls |
/server command |
Sends a console command (if enabled) |
/server panel |
Posts a pinned status message that updates every minute, with Start and Restart buttons. It needs Manage Server |
/whitelist add, /whitelist remove, /whitelist list |
Manage the Minecraft whitelist |
/link, /unlink |
Link or unlink the Discord. They need Manage Server |
If your Discord has more than one server linked, add the server option to choose which one. You can create up to 10 status panels per linked Discord.
Check what the bot did
On the Discord bot page, the Activity tab lists everything the bot did or refused, with who asked in Discord, which role allowed it and on which server. Entries are kept for 90 days. The Links tab shows your linked Discords, how many actions they ran, and lets you change the servers and roles with Edit.
Unlink the bot
Run /unlink in Discord, or click Unlink on the Links tab. The bot loses access right away, and its commands and panels stop working in that Discord. You can link it again later with /link.
Troubleshooting
The /link command does not appear in Discord
Make sure the bot is in your Discord and that you have Manage Server. The first time, commands can take a little while to show up in Discord.
The link says it cannot be used
Links expire after 30 minutes and work once. Run /link again to get a new one.
Discord says it is linked to another account
That Discord is already linked to a different SolumeCore account. Someone with Manage Server needs to run /unlink first, then link it again from the right account.
The bot answers "too fast" or denies an action
Actions have rate limits, and a person can only make a limited number of changes per minute. A denial means the role of that person does not include the permission. Adjust it with Edit.
FAQ
What can the SolumeCore Discord bot do?
Show a server's status, players and address, wake or restart it, manage the Minecraft whitelist and, if you enable it, run console commands. Each role only does what you allow.
Can I let my players start the server but not stop it?
Yes. Give their role only the Wake permission. It starts the server only if it is off or sleeping.
Does the bot see my password?
No. It never uses your password or your session. It has its own key, limited to the servers you chose.
Is this the same as Discord notifications?
No. Notifications post your account notices into a channel through a webhook, as explained in notifications and alert sounds. The bot lets people in your Discord control a server.
