To forward email from your domain to another inbox, open the Email tab of your hosting in the SolumeCore dashboard, go to Forwarders, click Add forwarder, and choose the address that receives mail and the inbox it should be passed on to. You do not need to create a mailbox: everything sent to that address arrives straight in your Gmail, Outlook or any other inbox.

When to use a forwarder instead of a mailbox

  • A forwarder passes messages on to another address and stores nothing on your hosting. It is ideal for sales@, support@ or contact@ addresses that should reach an inbox you already use.
  • A mailbox has its own inbox, password and storage, and you can read and send from it. See Create an email account in cPanel.

You can combine both: for example, a mailbox for hello@ and forwarders for sales@ and billing@ that arrive in the same personal inbox.

Before you start

  • Your domain must point to the hosting for mail sent to it to arrive. See Point a domain to web hosting.
  • Know the destination address, which can be any valid email address, even outside your domain.

Add a forwarder

  1. Sign in to the SolumeCore dashboard, open Web hosting (under Servers) and select your hosting.
  2. Open the Email tab and then the Forwarders section.
  3. Click Add forwarder.
  4. In Mail sent to, type the part before the @ and choose the domain, for example sales and yourdomain.com.
  5. In Is forwarded to, type the destination, for example [email protected].
  6. Click Add forwarder to confirm. A message says that everything sent to that address is now forwarded.

The Forwarders list shows each address under Sent to and its destination under Arrives at. Send a test message from another account to check that it arrives.

Delete a forwarder

  1. In the Forwarders list, click the trash can icon (Delete) at the end of the row you want to remove.
  2. Confirm. Mail sent to that address will no longer reach the destination.
i
Note

If you delete a forwarder, messages sent to that address later are not stored anywhere unless you create a mailbox for it.

Reply from your domain address

A forwarder only receives email. When you answer from Gmail, the reply shows your Gmail address unless you configure the mail app to send as your domain address. To reply as [email protected], create a mailbox for it and use the SMTP settings from the Mail apps section. See Create an email account in cPanel.

Troubleshooting

The forwarded email does not arrive

Check three things: the domain points to the hosting (the MX check in Domain & DNS is green), the source and destination addresses are written correctly, and the spam folder of the destination inbox. Providers such as Gmail can place forwarded messages in spam, especially if the domain has no SPF, DKIM or DMARC. See Set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC.

The address is not accepted as a destination

The destination must be a valid email address, written in lowercase letters, numbers and the symbols ., _, + and - before the @. Unusual addresses can be configured from cPanel.

FAQ

What is the difference between a forwarder and a mailbox?

A forwarder only passes the messages on to another inbox and stores nothing. A mailbox keeps its own messages, has its own password and lets you send email too.

Does forwarding use my hosting disk?

No. A forwarder does not store messages. Only mailboxes use disk space.

Can I forward to an address of another domain?

Yes. The destination can be any email address, such as Gmail or Outlook.

How do I know it works?

Send a message to the address from a different account and check the destination inbox, including its spam folder. If it does not arrive, check the troubleshooting section above.
