How to Set Up Passkey Login (Fingerprint, Face, PIN)
Log in to SolumeCore without a password using your fingerprint, face, device PIN or a security key. How to add, rename and remove passkeys, step by step.
A passkey lets you log in to SolumeCore with your fingerprint, face, device PIN or a security key such as a YubiKey, with no password to type. To add one, open Profile & security, go to the Security tab, click Add passkey in the Passkeys card, confirm it is you and approve the prompt from your device.
Before you start
- A recent browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox) on a device with a fingerprint reader, face unlock, a PIN or a security key. If the browser can't create passkeys, the panel tells you so.
- The passkey is tied to the panel address,
dashboard.solumecore.com. It doesn't work on other websites, and that is what makes it resistant to fake login pages. - Passkeys can be switched off by SolumeCore in some situations. If the Passkeys card says they are not available right now, your password and other options keep working as usual.
Add a passkey
- Log in at dashboard.solumecore.com.
- Open Profile & security from the Account group of the menu and select the Security tab.
- In the Passkeys card, click Add passkey.
- Give it a name you will recognize, like "Work laptop" or "YubiKey on my keychain".
- Confirm it is you with your password, an app code, a backup code or another passkey. If your account has none of those, we email you a code.
- Click Create passkey. Your device asks for your fingerprint, face, PIN or security key. Approve it.
You see Passkey added. The card lists it with its name, when you added it and when you last used it. It is marked Synced when your password manager or phone account keeps a copy across devices, or On this device when it lives only on that device.
Add one passkey per device you use. If you add a second one to the same device, the browser says that device already has a passkey for this account.
Log in with your passkey
- Open the login page.
- Click Sign in with a passkey. Many browsers also offer your saved passkeys when you click the email field.
- Approve the prompt on your device.
You go straight into the panel. A passkey with fingerprint, face or PIN already counts as two factors in one, so it doesn't ask for an additional authenticator code. Your password keeps working too.
Use your passkey as the second step
If you prefer a passkey to an app code as your two-step verification:
- In the Passkeys card, switch on Ask for my passkey after my password and confirm.
- From then on, logging in with your password also asks for your passkey. Logging in with the passkey alone still works.
If you also turned on an authenticator app, you choose either one at login. Then generate your backup codes so you can get in if you lose the passkey. See how to use your 2FA backup codes.
Rename or remove a passkey
- In the passkey list, open the options menu (three dots) of the one you want.
- Choose Rename and save a new name, or Remove.
- To remove, confirm it is you. That device can no longer log in to your account. Also delete the passkey from the device or password manager if you no longer use it.
If it was your last passkey, the account stops asking for a passkey after the password.
Adding or removing a passkey sends you a security notice by email. If you didn't make the change, reset your password and review your devices.
Troubleshooting
I lost the device that had my passkey
Log in with your password. If your passkey was your second step, choose a backup code, or the option to get a code by email on the verification screen. Then remove the lost passkey from the Passkeys card and add a new one. If you can't get in, see what to do if you lose your 2FA device.
"Sign in with a passkey" doesn't work
- Check you are on
dashboard.solumecore.comand not on a different subdomain. - Update your browser and make sure your device has a screen lock set.
- If you closed the prompt, click the button again.
- If the browser can't find a passkey for this site, log in with your password instead and add a new one.
The Add passkey button is missing
Your browser can't create passkeys or the feature is unavailable at the moment. Try another recent browser or come back later.
FAQ
Is a passkey safer than a password?
Yes. There is no secret to type or steal, and a passkey only works on the real SolumeCore panel, so phishing pages can't use it.
Can I have several passkeys?
Yes, one per device is a good setup, plus a spare such as a security key. Each can be renamed or removed on its own.
Do I still need my password?
Keep it. It is your fallback if your devices are unavailable, and you need it for SFTP access to your game servers.
What is the difference between a passkey and 2FA with an app?
An app gives you a 6-digit code to type. A passkey is approved on your device with a touch or a look. You can use either one as your second step or both.
