Set Up Your Domain Automatically with Domain Connect

Create your domain's DNS records in one click with the Set up automatically button: when it shows up, how it works and what to do if you don't see it.

Domain Connect lets your DNS provider create all the records SolumeCore needs for you, instead of you copying them one by one. When your domain's provider supports it, the dashboard shows a Set up automatically button (or Set up with followed by the provider's name): you click it, approve the records on your provider's page, come back, and the dashboard checks the result by itself.

When the button appears

The button is not always there, and that is normal. It shows up only when all of this is true:

  • Your domain's DNS is managed by a provider that supports Domain Connect, meaning your nameservers point to that provider. Many registrars and DNS services support it.
  • That provider has accepted SolumeCore's records template. Until then, the button stays hidden even if the provider supports the standard.
  • You are in a screen that asks for DNS records: web hosting, a game server or an app. VPS servers do not use it.
  • Your domain is not already using the nameservers of your hosting. In that case SolumeCore manages the DNS and you use the DNS zone editor.

If the button does not appear, nothing is wrong with your account: use the manual records, which are always shown. The dashboard remembers what it detected about your provider for about an hour, so a change on the provider's side can take a while to show.

Where to find it

Web hosting

  1. Open your hosting and go to Domain & DNS.
  2. While the domain does not point to your hosting yet, the Connection section shows a card named Set it up in one click: "(Provider) can create all the records for you." Click Set up with and your provider's name.
  3. It also appears inside the Connect my domain and DNS guide wizards, in the step where you choose how to point the domain.

Game server

  1. Open your game server, go to Network & domain and click Connect my domain in the Your own domain card.
  2. In the DNS records step, next to the records you will see Let (provider) do it for you: "We open your provider with the records ready: you just accept."
  3. If you closed the wizard, the same option appears in the domain's row while it is waiting for DNS, as a Set up automatically button followed by the provider's name.

App

  1. Open your app, go to Network & domain and click Connect domain in Domains with HTTPS.
  2. In the DNS step (it appears when you choose My own domain), the Let (provider) do it for you option appears next to the records. It is also in the domain's row later, while it is waiting for DNS.

How it works, step by step

  1. Click the button. A small window opens on your provider's site (about 750 pixels wide).
  2. Sign in to your provider if it asks you to.
  3. Review the list of records it will create. Check that the names and values are the ones you expect, and approve.
  4. Close the provider's window or come back to the dashboard tab. When you return, the dashboard checks the domain by itself and updates its state.
  5. Wait for the state to change to Active. The records usually need a few minutes to be visible. You can follow it with the propagation check.

You never type a value: the dashboard prepares the records on its servers and the link to your provider is signed, so your browser cannot alter what is created. You approve the changes on your provider's page, and SolumeCore never sees your password there.

Which records are created

They are the same ones the manual guide shows:

  • Web hosting: the A records for your domain, www, cpanel, webmail and mail, the MX and SPF records for email and, when available, DKIM and DMARC.
  • Game server: for Minecraft Java, the CNAME on _minecraft._tcp so players do not need a port, plus a CNAME on the name itself when it is a subdomain; for other games, the CNAME on the name itself.
  • App: a CNAME to your app (or an A record when the domain is the root), and the TXT that proves the domain is yours.

Note

If your provider offers a proxy, such as Cloudflare's orange cloud, check afterwards that the records are set to DNS only. Certificates, email and game connections need that.

Troubleshooting

The button does not appear

Your provider does not support Domain Connect or has not enabled SolumeCore's template yet, or the domain uses the nameservers of your hosting. Create the records by hand using the ones shown in the same screen.

The window did not open

Your browser blocked the pop-up. Allow pop-ups for the dashboard and click the button again.

The provider says the template was not found or the request is not valid

Try again in a few minutes. If it persists, use the manual records and open a ticket so we can look at it.

I approved it, but the domain is still waiting for DNS

Wait a few minutes and use Check now or Check again. If you already had records with the same name, your provider may have kept the old ones: edit or delete them so only the new ones remain.

FAQ

What is Domain Connect?

It is an open standard that lets a service ask a DNS provider to create a defined set of records, with the owner's approval. It saves you from copying values.

Is Domain Connect safe?

You always approve on your own provider's page, where you can see exactly which records will be added. The values come from SolumeCore's servers and the request is signed.

Does it work with any domain provider?

Only with those that support Domain Connect and have SolumeCore's template. For the rest, the manual guide works the same way.

Can I undo it?

Yes. Delete or edit the records at your DNS provider. Keep in mind that a domain stops working if you remove the records it needs.
