Coupons and Discounts: How to Redeem Them
Redeem a SolumeCore coupon and understand automatic, payment-method, volume and referral discounts: how long they last and how they combine.
SolumeCore uses several kinds of discount: coupons you type in, automatic promotions tied to a plan or location, discounts for paying with a specific method, volume discounts for buying several services at once, and a discount for customers who arrived through a referral. This guide explains how to redeem a coupon, what limits it can have, how long a discount lasts across renewals and how the different kinds combine.
Promotions are created by SolumeCore and change over time, so the rules below describe how discounts behave, not which promotions exist today. We do not publish prices or promo codes in this documentation.
Redeem a coupon at checkout
- Add the plan you want and go to checkout.
- Click Have a coupon? and type the code. Type it as you received it; the field converts it to uppercase.
- The summary shows the discount before you pay. If the code cannot be used, you see why.
- Pay as usual. The discount appears as a line on the invoice.
If the cart is enabled (it is off by default) and you buy several services, each item is quoted separately, and a coupon with limited uses is counted across all of them.
What a coupon can be limited by
A coupon is either a percentage or a fixed amount, and it never reduces the price below zero. Staff can set any of these limits:
| Limit | What you see if you do not meet it |
|---|---|
| Valid dates (start and expiry) | "This coupon is not active yet" or "This coupon has expired" |
| Total number of uses | "This coupon reached its usage limit" |
| Uses per customer | "You already used this coupon the maximum number of times allowed" |
| Specific plans | "This coupon does not apply to this plan" |
| New services only | "This coupon can only be used when you order a new service" |
A coupon that has been paused by staff also stops working until it is turned back on.
How long a coupon lasts: billing cycles
Each coupon applies for a set number of billing cycles. One cycle means only the first invoice; three cycles means the first invoice plus the next two renewals, and so on. The discount follows the service: renewals inside that window are discounted automatically, and afterwards the normal price returns.
Some coupons can also be applied to a service you already have. When that is allowed, open the service, use its Coupon option, type the code and press Check: the panel shows the discount per renewal and for how many renewals before you apply it, and it starts from the service's next renewal. Coupons marked for new services only cannot be applied this way.
Automatic discounts
These apply without a code. Staff can attach them to a plan, to a location (optionally limited to VPS or to VDS only) or to a payment method, with optional start and end dates. The price shown on the plans page already reflects public ones. Two details are worth knowing:
- Payment-method discounts. Some discounts apply only when you pay with a particular method: card, PayPal, account credit, crypto, or any. The pay page tells you ("Pay with PayPal and save X%") and applies it as soon as you choose that method. With any other method, the invoice is charged in full. For renewals, a discount can be set to apply regardless of how the invoice ends up being paid, or only when you pay with the required method.
- Duration. An automatic discount can last a set number of renewal cycles or be permanent for the service. Some are only given to specific customers by staff and are not public.
Volume discounts
If SolumeCore has volume rules active, buying several services in one order can unlock a discount once you reach a number of services or a subtotal, on everything or on one type of product. Only one rule applies per order, the one that saves the most unless staff chose otherwise. Items already discounted by a coupon may be excluded depending on the rule. The cart shows the volume discount as its own line.
Referral discount and affiliate program
- Referral discount. If you signed up through another customer's referral link, an optional discount may apply to your purchases. It is controlled by SolumeCore and off by default.
- Affiliate program. Customers can earn a commission on the first paid invoice of people they refer, according to the terms visible in the Affiliates section of the panel. The program can be switched off, and commissions are held for a short period before they become usable credit, which covers early cancellations and payment disputes. Self-referrals are checked for and may be cancelled or held for review.
Account credit
Credit on your account is not a discount, but it reduces what you pay out of pocket. See account credit and automatic billing.
How discounts combine
Coupons, automatic discounts and referral discounts can stack on the same price, but the total reduction can never exceed the price: each discount is applied in order and the next one only receives what is left, so an invoice is never negative. Volume discounts are calculated on what each item costs after its own discounts, and they are not applied twice.
Troubleshooting
- "Invalid coupon": check the spelling; a code may also have been paused or deleted.
- It does not apply to my plan or location: some coupons are tied to specific plans.
- I already used it: many coupons are limited per customer.
- My renewal did not get the discount: the coupon may have run out of cycles. Check the number of renewals shown when it was applied.
- Questions about a specific code: open a ticket with the code and the invoice number.

FAQ
Can I use two coupons on one order?
Each item takes one coupon code. Other kinds of discount, such as an automatic or referral discount, can apply at the same time, up to the price of the item.
Does a coupon apply to renewals?
Yes, for as many billing cycles as the coupon allows. A one-cycle coupon discounts only the first invoice; after its cycles run out, the regular price returns.
Can I add a coupon to a service I already have?
Only if that coupon allows it. Open the service, use its coupon option and press Check to see the discount before applying it.
Why was my coupon rejected?
The panel states the reason: not active yet, expired, usage limit reached, already used by you the maximum number of times, not valid for that plan, or only for new services.
Are there discounts for paying with a specific method?
Sometimes. The pay page shows when one is available and how much you save by choosing that method.
